Well, he may not be afraid of Brian Wilson‘s beard, but reports point to him and other Mets executives not being impressed with the private workout he participated in over the weekend. Mike Puma of the NY Post was the first to report this latest news, as Alderson and other New York talent evaluators feel the 2010 World Series champion still has some strides to make when it comes to recovering from Tommy John surgery. The Mets are willing to extend a minor league deal to Wilson, but the bearded hurler prefers a guaranteed MLB contract.
It remains to be seen if these two will find some common ground later in the winter, but fans shouldn’t be holding their breath for something happening quickly. It’s too bad, because both my brother and myself would buy tickets out in center field at Citi Field just to get an close look at this eccentric dude.
